BRIDGE DIRECT LORD OF THE RINGS
Welcome to the first EVER Lord of the Rings Hub! Find every bit of history on the toys that we love!
Bridge Direct was founded in 2009 by Jay Foreman, and resides in Boca Raton Florida. Jay was the former president of Play Along toys. The company that released the Armies of Middle-earth toy line, based on the Peter Jackson Trilogy. After a few company acquisitions, they rebranded themselves as Basic Fun.
Bridge Direct had big plans for the Hobbit line, releasing articulated figures in 3.75 and 6", along with a beautifully sculpted Goblin King that stands at 8". The character coverage seemed to fall off towards the end. Two unreleased gift packs of the dwarves were displayed at the NYC Toy Fair. This would have rounded out the collection. It is not entirely certain what caused these characters among others from this line to be cancelled and remain unreleased.
Highlights of the collection are the SDCC edition of Azog the defiler at 7". This figure came holding the severed head of dwarf king Thror. Also, the 22" limited edition of 3000 world-wide Smaug figure.
