Funko, Inc. is a pop culture consumer products company. The Company is engaged in selling a broad range of pop culture consumer products, featuring characters from a range of media and entertainment content, including movies, TV shows, video games, music and sports.
Founded in 1998 by Mike and Claudia Becker, Funko was originally conceived as a small project to create various low-tech, nostalgia-themed toys. The company's first manufactured bobble-head was of the well-known restaurant advertising icon, the Big Boy mascot.
Unlike traditional action figure (Pre-2005) POP's are designed 100% digitally. Experienced digital sculptors use Pixologic’s ZBrush app to create the final design for prototyping. Detailed sculpts can take a day to a day-and-a-half for an artist to execute. Funko then sends a ZBrush file, to their Chinese and Vietnamese manufacturing plants who print a prototype. Once the prototype is approved, the manufacturer turns the final design ZBrush output into a mold from a 3D print.
Funko has produced a wide variety of LOTR products. Including, single POPs, Super Sized, Key-chains, Rock Candy and 2 packs. Both Lord of the Rings and Hobbit licenses are covered.
